I called West Marine today regarding there 10% off sale on Nissan outboards
and found out they were also waving the sales tax (8%) for this weekend.
Well, I couldn't pass it up and bought the 5hp 4 stroke. Out the door it was
$1034.00. Its a little heavy for my p14 but I figured when I sailed to
Catalina I could remove it from the outboard bracket and use it for ballast.
Or just compensate with ballast in the cabin. Anyone else have a 5hp
outboard with a p14? How did you solve the weight problem? Oh yea, I got the
last one in stock so its sitting in my garage right now! I am taking it out
tomorrow for a trial run. The weather here finally cleared up and its in the
high 70's today. First sail in a few months so I am pretty excited.
