To locate gudgeons, I pinned mast at base and let it lower aft until it was
level. Blocked it in place there with scrap wood while I took the factory
mast crutch and pushed it up against the mast to find and mark the location
of the upper gudgeon.

The gudgeons I used came from EB Marine. I took the crutch along to make
sure they fit. As I recall, this was three years ago, the price was under
$10 for the pair. They install with #12 sheet metal screws and fender
washers. It's a two person job, because of the need for a wrench holder
inside the boat.

One other caution: when the mast is lowered aft, if you miss the Y of the
crutch and let it too far down, the lowest slot D ring (where I attach my
main downhaul block,) can mar the hatch if the hatch is full open.
