Judy, are you going to just run the screws into the lower layer of
fiberglass and into the core then?

I've been trying to figure out how I am going to mount my stereo - like you,
I have an older P19 without the factory place for it. I bought an 'under
dash' enclosure for the stereo, but I'm skiddish about a bunch of new holes
through the deck. I've thought of running a bunch of screws into (but not
through) the underside of the deck so it doesn't pierce the surface. Please
let us know ASAP if doing this presents any problems for you. I suppose if
wood screws don't work I can epoxy in some threadserts from below, but that
will make this far more of a project than I had in mind!

I plan on mounting this enclose just inside the companionway to port, so I
can easily reach the controls from inside or out.

For speakers, I have some radio shack minimus-7s i got dirt cheap at a
garage sale and they sound great. I built some stainless mounts just last
night from some stainless flat bar. I'll make the speakers wrap around the
compression post in a way that should make it easy to move the speakers
outside if I like. I basically made these mounts attach to the back and hold
the speakers 2" apart from eachother. When installed, the 2" space is for
the compression post, so when mounted, looking forward from the cockpit
you'll see speaker-post-speaker. The hard part was finding M4 stainless
machine screws to match the threads in the speakers.

Also, I found that my analog battery charge meter was STUCK at about 90% -
i.e. if i disconnected the battery, it still read 90% charge. Argh. My fancy
battery is toast. it doesn't want to hold a charge at all now. :( Any
recommendations?
