Hi Kevin, congratulations on your new Potter. From 1978 to 1996 the
centerboards on P.15's were painted, not galvanized. There is a L shaped slot
on the C.B. that allows for it's removal. But it has to come out from the
bottom. You can launch the boat on a lawn and roll it over on it's side to
remove the C.B. Don't tie a rope to the top of the mast to do this, you will
bend the mast. If you must use a rope, tie it where the shrouds attach. Have
the C.B. sand blasted and hot dipped, Galvanized. There is a place on Gilman
St. in Berkley that does this.
I think you mean a bow pulpit, not a bowsprit. I.M. has these and they are
not much of a problem to install.
As far as the mainsheet goes, you can move it aft, but this usually means
you will sit in the stern to sail the boat. The P.15 sails lousy with the
weight aft. Mine is mounted on the boom, I love it!
