I've missed a few of these posts so wonder if you received an answer on this
one?

I saw a P-15 that had a removable bowsprit made out of a wooden wheelbarrow
handle. Don't laugh, it actually looked good. I didn't see it hooked up
completely, but I remember that when in use; it extended a second forestay
from the top of the mast, to the bowsprit and then down to the bow eye. I
also (seem) to remember that the captain set the small jib farthest forward
and the lapper on the normal forestay. Due to my 52 year old brain I don't
remember much more about the boat, although I seem to think it belonged to
Darryl Sandeen from SoCal. Jerry might be able to add to this.
