I've been curiously reading about this matter of a Potter doing a turtle...
Hmmm! I may be misinformed, but it seems that there is a difference between
being knocked down, capsizing, and turtling. I've always associated the turtle
with catamaran's or trimarans where the mast is straight down under the water
and the keel straight up, with no gravitational aid to correct the situation. A
much different circumstance than being capsized or knocked down (lying on the
side, gunnels under and sails parallel to the water). When a boat is considered
self-righting, it doesn't necessarily imply that it will do so without a load of
water aboard. Of course this is nit-picking, but it seems that this group
rather likes that sort of thing. Seems to encourage more lively discussion or
something. <smile>

You can use plastic milk and/or orange juice gallon jugs also. When in need
of fender you pull out your jugs <snicker>, hang them over side and they can
take beatings instead of your gelcoat...

Good idea, If you did turtle and could get the mainsail off the mast, you
could hoist (in this case submerge) a few of the containers to the top on
the mast (in this case the bottom) using the halyard to help it self right.
How many do you think it would take?
