Down! Down! Down! The boat is very tippy and virtually uncontrollable with
the centerboard up. If you must raise it, don't stand up and motor very
cautiously. You'll probably have to steer with both the motor tiller and the
rudder tiller at the same time. Virtually every accident I have seen
recounted on this list was precipitated by having the board up. If it's
really shallow, try pulling it up partially until you're in deep enough water
to drop it. It doesn't take much.

If you like, leave the board up, leave your cabin door open, stand on the
cabin roof, grab the mast and lean out--at this point hold your breath
because you're going in the drink. Blub. Blub. Blub.

This is probably the most important safety factor to life aboard your P-15.
Enjoy and have a fun summer out on the water. Hopefully that summer will
include joining us for a stunning sail on Lake Tahoe the weekend of August
13, 14 and 15.
