Had occasion to have my motor (Tohatsu 3.5 internal tank) not start today. Vent open, fuel line open, kill switch thingy on, nothing. Back in the parking lot, played with the kill switch, seems to have vibrated out of adjustment, so it stayed killed even with the thingy on. Fixed that at home, with the garbage can for a lake, but the motor wouldn't run for more than 15 seconds.

Took EVERYTHING apart, cleaned everything (fuel filter, carb bowl, lines, plug, etc.). Same stuff. Was using 1/2 tank (I used the other half last weekend, everything was great). Drained the tank, cleaned it out with a little gas, mixed some new fuel. Started great! Ran like a usual 2 stroke.

I'm guessing bad gas as the problem. Have no idea how or why, but after blowing a perfect sailing day working over the motor, it's the only thing left. Anyway, something to keep in mind after you're sure the vent and fuel line are open!
