Near the forward end, a single large hole with (½") bore bearing allows
attachment of up to 24" pivoting beam (probably alum extrusion). Beam not
installed for cruising. Two control lines (braces) hold pivoting beam
centered. Beam carries gennaker tack line block on end. Advantage: as wind
shifts further aft, adjust braces to bring tack to winward, moving gennaker
out of the shadow of main and thus no need to gybe. Beam length will have
to be optimized by field testing. Also, bobstay geometry needs be
investigated, but the trailer bow eye appears to be pretty close to the
right position. I think the Kiwi's had a rig similar to this in their A-cup
boat. What think you all?
