It has only a halyard attached to the gunter yard. Is that called a "throat
halyard"? The peak is attached with a small line that goes through a slot
in the top of the yard then back down about a foot to a small horn cleat.

I considered adding a peak halyard when I was experimenting with the Mk II
sail on the gunter rig. The 2 ft that the gunter yard (gaff?) can be
lowered before it runs into the boom does not allow sufficient reefing for
the larger Mk II sail, so the sail needs to be lowered along the yard in
addition to repositioning the yard 2 ft lower.
