I have about that much invested in my 70 lbf thrust electric outboard with
associated batteries and wiring. I just wanted to expereriment with
electric power, and I'm actually using the electric motor most of the time,
but I have my Seagull Forty Plus for longer trips or rougher conditions.
The primitive, noisy, messy 3 hp Seagull drives the P14 very well, but my
choice for a new gas outboard would probably be a four-stroke 2 hp Honda or
equivalent. Two strokers are likely to be banned from many waterways unless
they can be made cleaner, and it is a nuisance to have to mix oil with the
gas. The four strokers may be quieter too.
