The transducer can be mounted anywhere you can get to the hull. There can be
no air between the transducer and the water. You can test how it will work
by putting a puddle of water inside the boat and putting the transducer in
that. (I put a rock on top of it to hold it down) When you find a
satisfactory spot, mix up some slow curing epoxy and glue the transducer
onto the hull. The slow curing is so air bubbles can work their way out.
The bigger question is mounting the receiver. I don't have a P15 so I can't
help on that. On my boat, I mounted it on the floor near the cabin bulkhead.
