I added two jam cleats, one on each side of the end of the boom, and
attached two very small blocks to the outhaul grommets in the sail (the
bottom one, plus the reef one). A piece of line goes from the original tie
down on the boom thru the block, and back into the jam cleat. This gives a
two to one advantage on the outhaul, allows a little more pulling distance
to tighten the sail, and allows the reef outhaul to remain rigged and ready
to put into use. So far it seems to work out ok.
