When people suddenly go up to high elevations, some of them become sick
(pulmonary or cerebral endema, acute mountain sickness, etc). But over time
most can eventually acclimitize. The same effect happens to engines. When an
engine is brought up to elevation it also gets sick and weak. However, over
time the engine will begin to run better as it acclimatizes. For those
expecting to sail up high I would suggest shipping your engine one week
ahead of time to be stored at high elevation. Then when you get there to use
it, it will operate properly.
