I wish I could say that I had never taken water aboard through the
centerboard trunk! Going up against Bay chop and big wakes (like the one that
the damned SF-Oakland Ferry - the guy that does about 25 kts in the Estuary-
makes) I have seen water come out through the top of the slot. I expect even
more comes through on the front of the trunk where the slot (on mine, at
least) is about 5 inches closer to the water. We're not talking about a lot
of water - I might sponge out a quart after an all day sail - I think the 19s
take on a bit more than that on a choppy day.
