Unless I am way off-base all three motors that you mentioned below are the
same underneath the decals. Beware - there are two versions of the
Nissan/Mercury/Tohatsu 3.5 (all made by Marubeni). The "A" model is
direct-drive, the "B" version has neutral & forward. You can check out the
Nissan Marine website for more details.

In my opinion the best motor to get for the P-15 is the new Honda 2hp
four-stroke with the centrifugal clutch. Smoother, quieter, more economical
and better for the environment. As soon as my 12 yr. old Mercury gives me an
excuse to, that's what I'm going to get.
