I wish someone did make an outboard that was a good auxilliary for a
sailboat. Such an engine would have lower gearing, a larger, probably 4
bladed, low pitch prop with plenty of "low-end" punch. The old seagull with
the hydrofan prop was a step in the right direction in many ways, but modern
technology could certainly do better with a clean-burning economical engine
designed to perform maximally in the 1 to 7 knot speed range and pushing a
load.
