inaccuracies. There were 6 boats to Catalina. We left from the ramp near
the Cabrillo Marina which is on the north end of Longbeach Harbor. We
stayed first at the Isthmus, then at Emerald Bay (very nice). The marina
at Cabrillo is pristine and the restrooms huge and very clean. - Eric >>

I might add to Eric's observations that the fee for launching and keeping
your car/trailer (they must be attatched to each other) at Cabrillo is
$8.00/day.

There might well have been another Potter Catalina sail from Alamitos,
though, I didn't hear of it. The confusion might have come about because Dave
sailed back to Alamitos on his return from Catalina, I believe.

I was the last of the group to leave Catalina. I had a grand time on the rest
of my Catalina cruise. Sailed among dolfins while sailing around West End to
Cat Harbor, which was cold and WINDY. Next day on to Little Harbor
(delightful). Wednesday sailed around east end. Fast exhilerating downwind
sail until I rounded the end of the Island where wind dropped off. Thought I
would spend the night in Avalon but it was too much for me, Gaaggg! It would
have been like trying to sleep in Disneyland's parking lot! Went on to
Little Gibraltar and had a wonderful evening all to myself. There was a crow
there that was absolutely fascinated with the sound of my cornet. Sailed back
Thursday, arrived in strong wind at Cabrillo. I paid about fifty dollars to
keep my rig at Cabrillo. If parking at the Alamitos ramp is free that would
be nice to know.
