I finally got out a sailboat I was given a few years ago that needed
repairs. I have just about finished the hull repairs and fiberglasss work.
I can make my own stays and shrouds but I need some advice on repairing
themast. I don't want to buy a new one until I find out if I like the boat.
It is a 21' McGlaughlin (I think that is how it is spelled) and is obvously
a racing craft. The mast is broken in half in the center and needs to be
sleeved. I will not take it out in high winds but would like to see how she
handles before springing for a new mast. Anyone have any suggestions for
how thick of s/s to use as a sleeve?? Thanks in advance
