Today, I have taken the plunge into the Potter world.
I made a downpayment at International Marine for a
P15!! It will take 6 weeks to build, so I can be
planning my first voyage. It will be yellow with a red
stripe. I purchased the "package", but without the
motor. I.M. does not sell a 4 cycle engine for the
P15. In California they are getting tougher on 2 cycle
engines. For starters I will use an electric motor,
and see how it goes. There is a long thread on the
optimum outboard size. Any thoughts on electric? I
have a Catalina 27 at Dana Point, but I wanted a
trailerable boat to pull behind my RV when I visit
other places. I had a very old HMS 19 years ago on the
Chesapeake. I loved it, but wanted something larger
when I moved west. I will be able to park the P15 in
my garage with no problem and avoid the slip fee I am
paying for the Catalina 27.

I took 2 neighbors sailing in my Catalina 27 two weeks
ago. They were so enthused that they immediately
started looking for their own sailboat. After looking
at several used sailboats and motorboats I suggested
that we take a drive to Inglewood, CA and look at
Potters. They bought a P19 today! We are looking
forward to RVing and sailing.

Thanks to Magico for his thoughts on the cost of used
Potters. It looks to me that the resale price really
holds up, so a new one should not depreciate as
quickly as some other boats.
