I did..

They cost more and put out less power ( -1.2V usually 1.1V). That is problem
with almost all rechargeables except alkaline rechargeables ( +1.3V.)
Alkaline rechargeables allow your VHF to transmit over a longer distance and
your GPS to lock onto satellites faster. They also allow more power out of
your portable radio..
