Dick, East Coasties, Webgang:

I can wholeheartedly agree with Dick's comments about the book HMS Ulysses, and
it is great to see a MacLean fan on here! The imagery a the end of the book
where she is steaming at all out flank while being fired upon by the German
cruiser, well, suffice it to say it is powerful. Other MacLean books that are
in my collection and worthy of mention here are:
Bear Island
When Eight Bells Toll
The Guns of Navarone
Where Eagles Dare
Ice Station Zebra.

Some other books that are very interesting in their sea tales are:

"In Danger's Hour" by Douglas Reeman. This is the story of HMS Rob Roy, a fleet
minesweeper, set in WWII.

"Yashimoto's Last Dive" by Antony Trew. Story of Capt. Togo Yashimoto,
submarine I-357 and crew and Capt. John Barratt, destroyer HMS Restless and
crew.

Hammond Innes, who wrote "Wreck of the Mary Deare" also wrote "Isvik", which is
another interesting and cautionary tale based largely and set on the sea.
