Hi, Larry--

I'll let you know the next time I'm in Carmel. Right after I sent my post to
you my computer went south. Without me! I thought the hard drive failed,
but it turned out to be the hard drive controller. It was (is?) a Gateway
9100, their top of the line notebook, although mine was a couple of years
old. I had to send it back to Gateway. It'll be at least another week
before I get it back. I was getting so worried about not returning mail and
missing appointments, I went out today and bought a desktop. I'm glad I did
it. Now I will have a backup 'puter if either fails. Also it's cool working
on a full sized monitor. My notebook had a 13" screen, but this one has a
ViewSonic 17" which is so clear I feel as though my eyes just grew about 20
years younger.

If anyone is thinking about getting a new computer, do it today! I have
found that due to a huge increase in the cost of memory, all computer prices
are going up. Way up. You can still find some good deals in some of the
larger stores, such as CompUSA, etc. that have a little stock and have not
raised the prices. Companies like Gateway have already raised theirs.

I normally get 30 to 50 E-mails a day. I've been offline for a week. Do I
have some reading to catch up on! If anyone's sent me a post, I'll answer as
soon as I can get to them. It'll probably take me a couple of days to get
through all this.

Since I know I'll get the question, I'll answer it now: Yes! I had all my
data backed up! I have lost only the time and frustration.

Talk with y'all soon!
