I'd tell you I was dyslexic, but I don't know how to spell that either...

Sorry to tell you Solar Fry, but be very careful when you move to Phoenix.
I lived near 16th Ave and McDowell (the center of town) and had to pay
flood insurance. Yaa, that's Phoenix as in Arizona. Government designated
flood plain. $600/year. Owned a Laser at the time. Kept it fully rigged
in the back yard - ready for the rain...

<< I read in Newsweek or Time an article in which the author proclaimed
solution to high insurance rates and damage claims was to move all coastal
area residents exposed to Hurricanes to an area where there was no risk of
losses to insurance companies..
{:^(

I kept thinking about it. thinking.. thinking..

Well..

Following that train of thought.. {:^)

They should also move all residents of areas prone to Tornadoes.. Texas,
Oklahoma, etc.. While on that subject they should also evacuate the Pacific
coastal areas and Alaska because of earthquakes..

Now where the heck are they going to move all of us? {:^(

Methinks some idiots have forgotten the original idea of insurance was to
spread losses over a larger pool and protect those exposed while providing a
minimum profit. It seems that has changed to providing revenue and security
for insurance companies and placing all losses on State coffers. In Florida
Flood and Wind damages are carried by a state funded insurance pool to which
Insurance companies also contribute a small percentage. So we now have
Florida Windstorm Underwriters insurance, etc. The end result is our
insurance rates have trebled since Andrew. Where before Andrew I paid $800/yr
for home insurance (all risks) I now pay same amount for insurance excluding
flood or wind damage. Those two are now separate policies for an additional
$800/yr each. And the beat goes on..

Sorry..

That was a touchy subject..
