Hi, Potter Yachters, Northern CA:

When you talk about your last sail this coming
November...well, does this mean you all are pulling
your boats out of the water? Is the weather so rotten
the next several months that you don't want to sail?

When I pulled my boat out September 22nd, it was
because the weather was good, yet I could have sailed
on the surrounding lakes for at least another month.
But the Fall here is traumatic...beautiful, but
awfully abrupt weather-wise for the sailor.

Thirty days from now the lakes will be covered with
ice, and 75 days hence the ice will be 30 inches
thick. All we can do in this area is think about
sailing late next April. Sailing, of course, in the
intervening six months is not an option. But is it an
option (of course I know you have no ice) for the
Potter Yachters? Or do we all need this six month
reprieve?
