In response to an unnamed Tahoe Potter sailor's request, I've collected 16
pictures to represent my sailing life here in Japan. However, I have no
web site. If you are interested in seeing any of the following annotated
pictures, please send an e-mail this week with the desired numbers and I'll
do my best to return your mail (all pictures in j-peg format).
The Players:
Kiyomi - my wife
Yoshi - part owner of the Dining Kitchen and the main honcho
Saeko - Yoshi's wife
Akihiro part owner of DK, motor maintainence man, knows sails
Sato part owner, cook, sail maintainer
Kanagawa - part owner, new father as of 3 days ago
Miyako - Akahiro's wife
the Dining Kitchen is a 34' Dehler in prime condition.
All the part owners are former dingy instructors form lake Bewa near Kyoto.
This is their second boat. Each had developed a particular expertise in
sailing.
The Catch 22 is my 21' boat, a Yamaha.
The context:
Summer before last both boats went to Suntopia Yacht Harbor with a party of
about 15. The Saturday trip out was windless and we motored almost all the
way. Sunday we were hit with a torrential rain which lasted all day. We
were under reefed sail and no jib. The Catch 22 had 3 people: myself,
Akihiro and his wife. The rest were on the DK. It took is 11 hours to
travel about 12 miles and than we made port about 6 miles from home. I
stayed the night while my friends took the train back to Kyoto. We
followed that weekend with a survivor's party.
