Hello folks,

I'm still trying to get enough time to see a Potter 19 in person. In the
meantime my wife and I are re-arranging finances and such. We are committed
to buying a boat, but it is on this point that I would be delighted to
receive some advice. What follows may bore many, so please feel free to skip
our message. Also, in soliciting comments I don't wish to incite the
slamming of other boats.

My wife and I are a couple, with two dogs, who envision dropping a boat in
the water on Saturdays after a hard week, staying overnight and coming home
Sunday. So many things about the Potter seem attractive to us. But there are
an awful lot of inexpensive used boats out there. Some of them very pretty.
I saw a Chrysler 22 up close that could be had for a song. Catalina 22's of
course come to mind. Irwin had a 23 as did Paceship.

What has me sold on the Potter 19 is what seems to be a terrific combination
of ease of trailering, set-up, comfort, and sea-worthiness. How do some of
these older boats compare? If it's not easy to set-up, I think we won't use
it as much. The Rhodes at double the price is out of our 'new' price range.
The MacGregors and Hunters don't seem as well built or as seaworthy.

Any comments or advice appreciated.
