Others will have much more information, but here is what I saw.

The boats showed up but the wind stayed home. With over twenty boats on =
the water, this was the largest Potter Yachter event that I have ever =
attended. Most were P-15s and P-19, but I did see 3 Montys (a 17 and =
two 15s), a ComPac 16 and a Capri-16. I crewed with the Potter Yachters =
web site manager Kent and had a great time. Due to the wind conditions, =
none to maybe 10 mph, with some interesting gusts towards the end of the =
race that might have reached 15 mph, I don't think this was a good race =
for the boxy, high windage Potters to be in. Even so Jerry with his =
"camping ready" HMS-18 came in second only to the stripped for racing =
Capri. I have to admit that in the conditions we were in the Capri =
moved through the water like it was WD-40. The Montys also fared well =
with two of them being in the front half of the pack, but the ComPac was =
towards the end of the fleet when we reached the finish line.

I think the results would have been a bit different if there was enough =
wind to get the Potters up on plane, although I don't want to imply that =
the other boats wouldn't also benefit from the same. I do feel that =
this race proved a point that I have held from the first single design =
race that I attended, the boat is only part of the equation when it =
comes to winning. The Capri and large Monty were skippered by seasoned =
skippers (the Capri by the sales rep from Santa Cruz) where as some of =
the Potters had novices at the helm. Not to say that the club didn't =
have it's big guns on hand. The two "Js", Jerry and Judy, were there, =
as well and Harry in his (where the heck did he find that puff of wind) =
lateen rigged P-15, and Bruice (The Chico kid) In his "on rails" P-15. =
Eric (I can;t get enough) flew by us so fast that we looked to see what =
we were dragging, and Greg (the Fremont typhoon) was also in the lead =
pack.=20

I have left out many, not because of disrespect, but this was just going =
to be a quick report and my better half is reminding me that "WE NEED TO =
LEAVE NOW!!!" So see ya soon, and hang in there as I am sure that other =
reports, as well as the results are on the way (if not already posted).
