Dear Dan and webgang,

In case I didn't make it clear in a previous post -- I DID discuss this issue
with the photographer before we hired them for the regatta.

They have given us permission to scan the photos SOLEY for the purpose of
displaying them on the PY website in small format at low to medium resolution
(such that they are unsuitable for reproduction at 5" x 7" or larger).
Individuals may also display them in similar format.

They pointed out, as you do, that they make their living selling boat
portaits and prints, and that the pictures are copyrighted.

It's an issue of personal integrity. They have given us permission to
display the pics on non-commercial websites. They're being very realistic
about what we can do with the pictures. Please don't take advantage of them
by "pirating" their work. They deserve to be paid for their work. Please do
the honorable thing.

Please suppport the photographers by ordering prints from them. The prices
they quoted us are VERY reasonable for high quality professional work.

Fair winds,
Judy B
