Thanks Ken. Now I know that bow rails interfere with poled out
headsails, and side rails interfere with rowing. That makes the rail buying
decision much easier. I'll just have to live with fewer places to tie
things off. What is a "lorax"?

Thanks Ron, I've decided to experiment with oarlock socket placement
before drilling. I installed the sockets on the ends of a board that I can
lay across the width of the boat (athwartship?) and move fore and aft. I
can tie it down with a rope around the outside of the boat, or just hang
from the board in a harness.

Hi potterers,
so...if you have rails on the cockpit...what's everybody doing about
rowing, lock placement and those rails? mine keep me from getting a full
stroke...the stanchions get in the way.
