You speak the truth, oh wise one, I had ocean size waves and swell in
mind when I purchased the masthead float. However, (hem, haw, duck) I
haven't yet summoned the courage to confront the big water.

I, too, have watched at Half Moon Bay and saw an O'Day Mariner (19 ft)
and a 505 (occupants in wetsuits) appearing to have a good time. So, it
may not be so far fetched to go out of there in a P-15.

Harry has some experience in Monterey Bay. I've sailed out of Santa Cruz
a few times on a Santana 22 - my recollection is that the worst moments
are dealing with the swell going in and out of the harbor.
