Hello,

I had a similar problem with my P-19 dagger board hold-downs, running into a
rock or something in New York harbor. All four bolts broke away, with no
damage to the more important components, so I was relieved. After it broke,
I never had a chance to replace the hold-downs, but instead tied a length of
1/8 (or 3/16?) line through the hardware fittings that remained on the
dagger board trunk. It holds the keel down just fine (no water leakage at
any time), and the line (I believe) should be strong enough to hold the keel
in the event of a turtle, but with enough stretch to handle another
grounding.

Don't know if I'm inviting a disaster someday...would appreciate any
feedback from the group!

Thanks,
Dave Rein
