I brought this up in a post about 2 months ago. Im in colo spgs but used
to live in seattle and love lake chelan. Only been there once but great
memories. I took the ferry up to the top and donned a 3/4 inch diving
wetsuit (very cold glacier fed water) and went snorkeling!!! I could tell
this was an oddity for the local area, but the water there is ssssooooooo
clear that it rivals any other lake in north america. I could see fish
clearly in 8 feet of water no problem. Most lakes can only see 1-2 feet at
best in their murky green ness. It was cold though. Some of the web
sites I saw listed in the earlier post talk about sailing in the lower end
of the lake, but none mention sailing the length of the lake (55
miles--shaped like an earthworm).
My plan was to strap a bunch of 5 gallon gas cans to the hull to motor when
the sailing wouldnt work (and two mountain bikes to the sides of the mast
for biking up at the top of the lake. its about a 55 mile one way trip;
and stay at camp sites along the way. I thought it would be fun to use the
potter as a floating camper motoring up and back.

I hope to do it some day, If you do, please write me about all the gooey
details with pictures too!!!!!
