I went for a sail yesterday here in Long Beach CA, The wind and the
swells were up. I would say the wind was about 20 knots With gusts to 25.
the swells were about 6 to 8 feet. The potter performed beautifully. Some
of the swells were breaking from the wind but the potter steered right
through them. I sure was glad I installed the CDI. The wind was gusty so I
had to reduce the forward sail. The furler made it easy. I probably should
have reefed the main but found having the mainsail far out and dumping the
wind worked just fine. Any more wind and I would have had to reef. Taking
the boat off the trailer by myself with a direct wind was a real challenge.
I ended up having to jump out of the boat to save it from blowing right back
on the cement of the ramp. I ended up slicing up my foot on some muscles
thats still smarts) I was happy to see the potter in these conditions sail
so well. Not really dangerous, but more than I am use to.

Happy Sailing, Dave Lang p15 Hull#554 "Go West"
