In my many years I have had my P.15 up on a plane only once. It was on
the Sacramento river and it was really blowing. The boat lifted herself out
of the water and fine spray was shooting out from about the middle of the
cockpit seats. I guessed she was doing over 12 knots. Most of the time with
good wind they will semi plane, which will give you a real rush. A well
sailed P.15 can do an honest 5.5 knots. There is nothing more rewarding than
dusting a big boat with a little Potter!
