I've sailed for one 3 day stretch and one 5 day stretch in
the south sound. Great area, less crowded, ideal for the
potter, and much of the same beauty as the San Juans.

I have always liked Olympia as well, however its not real
cheap to buy a house there ...

Boston Harbor has a free ramp with quick access to some
prime sailing too!

I would suggest a copy of "Afoot and Afloat in the South Sound"
for a good cruising guide. Mine helped alot and covered shore
activities as well. I will definitely be doing another multi-day
trip up there soon, possibly this spring.

we may be moving again, to olympia washington.

seattle is just too much for us, the traffic and the big bucks to live
here...olympia seems like it would be a nice town like eugene was but with
puget sound right there....

anybody know much about the sailing on the south sound? i'd be interested
to know how it is...it looked pretty good when we visited yesterday, from
the land...lots of sailboats in the marinas.

thanks!
