Ray,
I actually have two sets of gudgeons on my boat. They
are butted up to each other and consequently do not
really take up too much room on the starboard side. I
think an added benefit that I hope I never need is
that if I ever break one while under way I can put the
rudder on the starboard set. It would certainly be
unbalanced and inefficient, but I thik would at least
allow me to keep underway until repairs could be made.
