Bill,

I lowered the ladder on my P19 (which was too short anyway) and installed a
folding step (Garelick-wooden step about 14" wide?) (BOATUS CAT
P223-$33.99) (which I picked up at Boaters World on sale for about $20.00)
where the top of the ladder used to be located. It makes it easier to get
into the boat on land or at sea. I place my 3 gal gas tank on it and use a
bunge to hold it. I remove it when trailering or when entering the water
from the boat and set it in the cockpit. If entering the boat from the
water in an "unplanned excusrsion" (read-I FELL overboard), I would have to
climb over it, and have done this. Definitely unclutters the cockpit and
makes boarding easier.
