Mike: I don't know that trouble would result. I posted it only as a "look
out for", rather than a dire warning. The loads on the hull and deck would
be similar to over-tightened shrouds, which the hull and deck should
certainly withstand. Your idea of a pipe spreader to take the load is
probably a good precaution.
