Amen, this piece of gear should be standard equipment on all Potters.
Installing the shroud lever was the second improvement I made when I
received Kelpie in 1995 (First was a spare set of gudgeons so that the
rudder did not have to be removed to install mast crutch.). I leave the
shroud lever attached to the chainplate and use a captive quickpin to
connect the eye of the forestay to the upper end of the lever. Add a small
ball to the stay (a "bobble" in Ronstan terminology) so that you have
something to push on and you can singlehandedly set the forestay to near
ideal tension. A slight pull on thge backstay adjuster completes the job.
