As a sailor of one of the older P-15's without the small
bulkheads described, one advantage of the bulkheads would
definitely be that of keeping stuff from migrating into the
nether regions way back under the cockpit.. saves having
to try and fish things back into reach with the jib pole etc..
Our boat has beckson 8 inch access ports in the top of the
cockpit seats ( the circular "porthole" type , with rubber
gaskets ) clear at the aft end just in front of the transom..
which enable tightening the mooring cleats, etc.
