[WWP] P-19 Jib Sheets & Mini-stays

Is anyone looking for a quick and easy way to wash your decks on a P-19,
send your heart rate to the limits and test your quick reflects all in
about three seconds or less? Just wait for a howling wind, with gusts,
screaming up river as you proceed down and allow your jib sheet to tangle
on your mast raising mini-stay as you change from starboard tack to port
tack. That backwinded jib will spin you around so fast that you'll be on a
beam reach at 25 degrees of heal before your boat picks up enough speed to
be able to round up again!!

I'm one of those that leaves the mast raising mini-stays attached while
sailing (one less thing to stow and/or loose during the weekend) but care
needs to be taken to prevent your jib sheets from tangling on the stay pin
at the cabin u-bolt area. My solution, short of removing the mini-stays,
is going to be to remove them from the cabin u-bolts and bungee them to the
base of the mast. This should remove the pins from the area of flying jib
sheets.

Fair winds to all,
Dave Norris, P-19 #1004 "WightCap"
SF Bay area.
