Andy,

My tuning guide is for P19's with a backstay. I'm not at all sure you
should tune the P15 similarly, since there is no backstay. What works for a
boat with a backstay may be wildly incorrect for a P15 without a backstay.

Let's hear from P15 skippers.

Subject: [WWP] P15, shroud/CDI tension adjustment

I'm trying to adjust the shroud and CDI luff tension on my P15. I'm
still waiting on my title from IM so I've been unable to trial and
error it on the water.
With the side shroud adjusters in hole 4 from the open end
(factory setup I think) the side shrouds seem adequately taut and
produce the low tone described by Judy B. in her P19 tuning procedures.
My problem is with the CDI luff tension. I've adjusted the CDI
turnbuckle to max tight (mast raked forward) and I can still cause the
luff to oscillate slightly when I shake it. I'd expect it to be taut
like the side shrouds. It's hard to tell if the stay is flopping or if
just the luff is moving due to its bore being sized larger than the
stay.
When I move the shrouds to hole 5, CDI turnbuckle at MINIMUM
tightness, the CDI luff toggle is a good 4 inches from the chainplate.
With this arrangement I would need to use both arms and body weight in
order to attach the toggle. I've been afrad to pull this hard.
It seems to me that using hole 4 and tensioning the luff to just
before the mast rakes is the proper setup, but the luff wiggle bothers
me.
    Advice/comments?
