Hello,

My wife wrote the note that started this thread about mast raising and
lowering...I guess she was a bit tired of my obsessing over the details of my
"system."

Thanks to everyone for their responses. My system was pretty much in line
with what everyone else seems to be doing; mine lacked a good way to control
the side sway of the mast during lowering. In fact, I twisted the tabernacle
out of shape the last time I let the mast down! I don't want that to happen
again...

I can see that the answer to my problems will probably be the mini-stays and
the cleat atop the cabin roof. Where on the cabin roof are the stays
attached, and how high up are they attached to the mast (I'd reckon about 3 or
4 feet)? I'd also guess that the stays are attached to the cabin roof on a
line with the center of the mast stepping base?

I appreciate all of your responses. Eric, you mentioned that you were going
to put some pictures of your system out on the Minnesota Potterers page--that
would be great!

Thanks much,
