Derek-

It appears to match the description and illustration of the UK-built Potter
in the article "Little Legend" <http://songbird.com/py/pics/DPotRvw.gif>,
which I've tentatively identified as a D-Type because of the "D" in the
sail emblem. The article mentions that the boat came with roller furling,
as did yours apparently. But the name of the manufacturer doesn't match.
The article identifies the builder as

"The Potter Boat Company
7 Whitemocks Avenue
Durham City, DH14HP"

[I realize that the "Little Legend" article looks way oversize on screen,
but that was the only way I knew to maintain legibility. If you download
the GIF file from the web page, it should print out letter size and be
readable.]

So that gives us three manufacturer's names for this configuration of
Potter. The flyer for the C-Type <http://songbird.com/py/pics/CPotBrch.gif>
is from

"Marine Laminates
Fort Victoria, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight"

and the nameplate on Derek's (D-Type?) boat says

"West Wight Marine" (no location?)

Then there is Steve Oliveira's C-type Potter
<http://songbird.com/py/pics/Ctype.jpg> with the unexplained "Silver
Slipper" emblem. Steve, does your Potter have a nameplate on the transom
identifying the manufacturer?

There were also at least two wooden UK Potters. There was the original
Stanley Smith plywood version manufactured by West Wight Plycraft. It was
also gunter rigged. And more recently there was the wooden, marconi-rigged
Potter "AX"
<http://www.lesbois.com/wwpotter/photos/British/British_potter.htm > built
by Martin Pook.

Derek, does your "Frodo" have any emblem or number on the sail? Are you
really selling her?

Whew! I'd like to hear from anyone on either side of the Pond who can add
any light on this survey of UK Potters. Any flyers, brochures, or articles?
