Hold off on that Perko deck plug for your masthead light. I have another =
boat beside my Potter (a larger boat, but then what isn't) on which I =
installed a masthead tricolor, and used a Perko through deck plug as =
connector to the boat's electrical system. After a couple of years I had =
to replace the fitting because of corrosion and consequent malfunction of =
the light. Another couple of years and I had to replace THAT fitting. =20

The next through deck plug that I istalled was a different make--I will =
have to look up the brand at home tonight and e-mail the name to you =
tomorrow. I have not had any problems with the new fitting in several =
years.

The fitting that I bought was five pin, for nav lights, anchor light, =
strobe, and ground. It may be that the same company will have a smaller =
connector available.

I just purchased a P-15 with an electrical system but no anchor lights. I
plan to mount a West Marine anchor light at the top of the mast and run =
the
wires inside the mast to about 1 " from the bottom. I then plan to drill =
a
hole there big enough for the wires and a rubber grommet. I was going to
mount a Perko connector to the cabin roof with the plug attached to the
mast wires. I would then run the wires to the switch panel. Does anyone
have any suggestions on how to improve this arrangement before I get busy
with my trusty drill?
