___Regarding HONDA 2 and 5 HP 4 cycle engines___

I also called my HONDA dealer here in Wilmington, Delaware [ only sell /=

service marine engines ] where I bought my 5 HP / 4 cycle engine three
years ago.

Here is what they said:

1. The HONDA 2 and 5 HP 4 strokes have extremely fine carborator jets,=
=

so clogging needs to be avoided at all costs.
2. For " long " term storage [ like over the winter ] [ and this is
what the dealer will do if I would take my 5 HP/ 4 stroke engine to the=
m
for winterizing....].

a. Run the engine up to operating temperature
b. Disconnect the fuel line and while engine is still running on
residue fuel, spray fogging oil into the air intake. The engine will smo=
ke
like hell and then shortly quit.
c. Take out sparkplug and spray in some WD 40 or something like that=
=2E
d. Check, clean, etc. replace sparkplug
e. drain _hot/old _ crankcase oil and put in fresh oil for the winte=
r
f. drain and replace lower works lube

Bottom line as to running fuel out according to this dealer.....run the =
2 =

& 5 HP/4 cycles dry. So I vote with Geoff...at least as to HONDA 4 strok=
es
that use regular gasoline with no oil mixed in. All the above comments
and advice are _ not_ in either the normal or expanded shop manuals (!).=

Also....of interest was his comment that many users of any kind of outboa=
rd
put fuel stabilizer into their " normal " fuel all year long. Good for=

fuel stabilizer sales also I would guess ! ;-D>
