Dave,

We are also moving our Batteries out from inside the starboard cabinet.
This is a waste of space and a difficult location to get the batteries in
and out. Weight and balance on the P19 is very critical. The "stock" P19
from the factory is too light in the bow with all of the passengers in the
cockpit. Locating the batteries under the V-berth is a good location, but
be sure to consider your final configuration of the boat in terms of weight
and balance before committing to the battery storage location. We are
adding a marine head where the port cabinet is now located. The marine head
weights 80 lbs, empty (toilet, tank and fresh water supply). The starboard
cabinet will be converted to the Ice Box. The ice box will weigh about 50
lbs when full. The marine head will weigh about 126 lbs when full ( I guess
the correct assumption is that when the ice chest is full, the head will be
empty and when the ice chest becomes empty the head will be full?) Because
of these considerations, we are moving the batteries just forward of the
starboard cabinet, under the area where the porta-potti is now located
(1997 year model), We are going to add a water tank under the V-berth to
act as an adjustable bow ballast and to supply water to the cockpit shower.
I have been looking at the electrical terminal strips located on the inside
walls of the starboard cabinet. Keeping these in the same general location
will prevent us from having the re-wire the boat (run the battery wires to
the terminal strips from the new battery location). I am going to build a
"terminal box" inside the starboard cabinet with an access panel to the
outside, possibly where the useless cup holder and cigarette lighter is now
located. Well that's it. Let me know how your relocation efforts are
working out.

Hello,

Well, I just finished putting my P19 away for the winter this afternoon,
but
already I'm thinking about things to do for next spring...

I've been thinking about moving my battery (along with a new second
reserve)
to a spot underneath the seat between the V-berth. I figure I'll open up
the
seat and the space above it to make room for easy battery installation and
removal. I'd put two battery trays in that space, with a battery gauge to
switch between the two when needed.

In the right cabinet, where the battery used to be, I'd make some shelves
and
generally try to maximize all that storage room under there. (Right now
the
battery consumes the entire space.)

Has anyone done this, and is there anything I need to consider before
trying
this? Seems like it would be okay as long as I can keep the batteries a
little bit off the floor since there is the potential for some water
accumulation there.

Anything I'm missing?

Thanks,

Dave Rein
