Can it be true that Larry Costa is as much of a boor when sober as
when he has (in his own words) "a little brandy ... over the tongue"?
One thing at least _is_ certain: he has no more understanding of
history than he has of courtesy. Happily, neither boorishness nor
ignorance is irremediable. Perhaps one day Mr. Costa will elect to
take the cure.
I have always enjoyed Bruce Longstaff's trenchant and witty
contributions to this list; I regret that I cannot say the same thing
of Mr. Costa's.
