Hello Dan and other possable potter owners.

<< Thanks. I don't scuba. Still trying to determine the vessel to get. I
prefer GPS also.

Well, I suppose everybody has there choices as to what sailboat to own. Money
spent and value recived is relative. I as the son of a boatbuilder find the
Potter P19 to be a lot of useful boat for a nice cheap price. But then again
I bought a used one (88) for less than 4K.

I sail with my beloved wife (who intro'ed me into SCUBA) and often enough a
second couple of adults. Boat camping is my thing. I often camp ON THE
TRAILER in National Parks. I like the enclosed Portapotty (as does my wife
<G>) and the storage aboard. I often Shower in the Cockpit with a solar
shower hoisted up the main sheet. Got one of those inflatable shower stalls
for privacy. Self Draining Cockpits are really nice. Boom Tents with
mosquito netting makes the cockpit a nice porch indeed...

Right now I am in the process of replacing my 2 Stroke Outboard for a Electric
Trolling motor, solar cells (mounted on the stern on a mounting horseshoe) and
forward mounted deep cycle batterys, inverter and so forth. Will go well with
my 12 volt Coffee Maker, Reefer, Propane BBQ Grill and CD player. So far the
total cost for my boat is up to about 6 K but then again I have a LOT of
creature comforts... <G>

If you want exciting, speedy sailing the potter is not your best choice. If
you want to go Boat Camping, and beaching over on that nice island for a
picknic then the potter is a good choice. All the complaints I have seen on
this list are easily repaired or advoided (like NOT trailering with a mounted
outboard...girr).

Just a few thoughts from a "Bum Boat" sailor. Or at least I *think* that's
what that "Big Pretty Sailboat" Sailor said in passing.... I was passing HIM
as he was in the Slip revarnishing his brightwork. I was going out for a
picknic.... <G> I own my Potter, my Potter does not own me..... Think about
it.... <G>
